Sideways - a woodfired restaurant you should visit
Hi guys!
Recently we visited a cute hole in the wall restaurant called Sideways, a woodfired restaurant. Dining in this cosy 100 year old shophouse, with exposed brick and industrial aesthetics, was definitely a fun experience for us. Located near Jalan Besar MRT, with plenty of backpackers hostels nearby, I'd imagine that Sideways is popular especially at night, so do make a reservation.
Since the food is woodfired, be prepared to wait a little more than usual. Trust me, your patience will pay off.
We ordered the Blackened Barramundi.

No, the fish is not chao-ta, it is blackened with squid ink! Very unique. The fish is succulent and fresh, and sits atop pistachio pesto and spiced sprout salad. The pistachios added a great texture and flavour to the dish. People who hate raw tasting vegetables in general should avoid the sprouts though. The mushrooms are sweet and overall this dish was a delightful one. You may find the serving a little small though.
Next up, is the Smoked Lamb Ribs.

Both servings are on the small side, but if you order some of their special sourdough (which we will do on our next visit), maybe the meal would be satisfying enough.
Available on Burpple Beyond. Our meal came up to $30ish and we used Grabpay here too!
Definitely a place to add on your to-go list for a date or a small meetup.
