I'm a huge bookworm, and every year I challenge myself to read 100 books. This 2015 I managed to complete 130 books! *applause* (Click to see my bookshelf on Goodreads)

In this post I made a list of some of my favourites this year, so if you're interested do check them out! Happy reading!

Fiction
Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan
This was super entertaining, funny and snarky. A great balance overall.

Game of Thrones series by George R Martin
Needs no introduction I hope. Might be hard to get into at first, but when things go down, you cannot help but laugh every time George writes '"I know nothing, thought Jon Snow."

The Postman by David Brin
A 1997 story that I found well written- the pace, plot, and characters were all to my liking!

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
Because you get thrill, mystery, and horror all packed in one book.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
This is here because I can identify with it. You would too, if you're a fangirl and have joined a fandom, or read fanfiction before.

Roald Dahl (I tried both his adult short stories which are darker, as well as all the classics)

Feed by Mira Grant  (Zombies!) (Read my post here)

The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa
Known for her dark stories, this charming story by Yoko Ogawa is about an old maths professor, his house cleaner and her son, Root.

Local Fiction:
Ministry of Moral Panic by Amanda Lee Koe
The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye by Sonny Liew

Funniest Books:
The Last Girlfriend on Earth by Simon Rich

Interesting Concepts:

Project Cain by Geoffrey Girard

The Stars Never Rise by Rachel Vincent
(Good teen read- a blend of dystopia, zombie elements, and romance.)

Biographies:

The Lady and the Peacock: The Life of Aung San Suu Kyi of Burma by Peter Popham

Marilyn Monroe: The Biography by Donald Spoto

Interesting insights of various industries:

The Birth of Korean Cool by Euny Hong (If you ever wanted to know more about the K-wave)
Inside Coca Cola by Neville Isdell and David Beasly
#Girlboss by Sophie Amoruso (Founder of Nastygal)
The Towering Life of Jimmy Choo by Lauren Goldstein Crowe, Sagra Maceira de Rosen (Read my post here)
Monster Loyalty: How Lady Gaga Turns Followers into Fanatics by Jackie Huba
A Writer's Life by Virgina Woolf

V Woolf's diary was very interesting- her written thoughts are so fluid and wonderfully phrased.

Cutest romance/friendship

Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

The Brotherband Chronicles by John Flanagan

The Book Was Better Than The Movie

The Martian by Andy Weir (Read my post here)

Maze Runner by James Dashner (Only the first book.)

Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (Only the first book.)

The Movie was Better, Lol
Maze Runner 2: The Scorch Trials (Read my movie post here)

Somewhat Disappointing (to me):
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
Rick Riordan Heroes of Olympus series. (Thought it lacked the punch of the original Percy Jackson series.)
Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
This One Summer by Mariko and Jillian Tamaki

Self-help
The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin (Read my movie/book post here)

Non-Fiction
Humans of New York Stories by Brandon Stanton

Special Mentions
I tried two major works this year, I'm proud to have finished reading them! They took me many sittings to complete. Understanding them though, is another story altogether.

The Iliad by Homer
The Divine Comedy by Dante

Classics can be rather gory, but very funny also.

So go forth, and start reading! It's always a great time to begin :)

Hello 2016, a great year of reading awaits.
P.S. If you have any book reccs, do feel free to comment below, I'll love to check them out!
