Wow, I think I definitely lost the blogging streak. Haven't posted here in ages.
I used to post a lot about food, didn't I? Almost 80% of the time. Somehow this year we didn't feel any interest checking out new food etc so that may explain the blog drought. (Or maybe just the lack of discipline.)
Anyway, we went to Ca Phe, a Banh Mi joint in Joo Chiat!

The menu:
We ordered Otah ($1.50) to try too. Hmm.. I didn't find it super fragrant, spicy or tasty. It was fine but not really to my liking so I think I'll probably skip this next time and just go for the banhmis.
Ordered two iced Vietnamese Drip coffees ($4.80). Unfortunately they were kind of weak? Or am I just under the wrong impression that Vietnamese coffees are supposed to be super strong? Hmmm

Well, the banh mis were delicious though!
Signature Grilled Lemongrass Beef Patty with Hoisin Sauce $7.50
The baguettes were light, hot and crispy! A big thumbs up from me.
Yummy, hearty meatballs with an abundance of sauce. Can't really taste the lemongrass though.
Can be kind of jelak so I recommend to cut the sandwiches into halves so everyone enjoys some variety.
Classic Cold Cut $5.80
Very refreshing and light on the palate! Got a bit spicy towards the end.
The shop was absolutely buzzing~ with customers. All this despite the relatively inaccessibility of Joo Chiat what with its distance from major MRTs, few buses and limited parking lots. But maybe that's the charm of Joo Chiat!
We observed that other banhmi shops down the stretch were not so fortunate in terms of patronage.

Tip: The best spot is beside the huge air cooler on the inside. XD However, you'll be sitting beside the speaker too. On that day the songs of choice were a compilation of popular TikTok songs like Golden Hour, Cupid etc.
Remember to clear your own trays! Self-service.
