5 Entertainer Spots to Check Out: Mar 2019

Heya lovelies!

Welcome back to the start of another month! We'll be bringing you new reviews of places we visited on our Entertainer app, hope you enjoy this post!

Istanblue Meze & Grill

17 Baghdad St, Singapore 199656 (Bugis MRT or Nicoll Highway MRT)

Ambience
The place is relatively quiet, even on Friday nights. The restaurant is beautifully furnished with Turkish ornaments and we enjoyed our time here. Good place to chill and catch up with friends, especially if you don't need alcohol.

Comments on Food:
We had the Izgara Kofte, which is a grilled lamb meat dish. It was flavourful and goes well with the sauce. Loved it.

The lamb shank portion was huge and the meat came off the bone easily.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and would be coming back for more (and bringing our friends too)! If you're feeling adventurous and want a change from the usual fare, why not check out this spot?

Tip:
End your heavy meal on a good note with a refreshing pot of Turkish Apple tea.

Turkish Apple tea. Isn't the tea set just gorgeous?

Mischief

8 Raffles Avenue, Esplanade Mall #01-12, Singapore 039802

Ambience:
If you are lucky, there will be people performing along the riverside - free live music to enjoy!

Comments on Food:
Portions are huge but the fish and chips was too dry and lacks flavour.

The Churros were sadly disappointing too. They were served hot, but the taste of flour was overly strong. The chocolate sauce tasted suspiciously like bottled chocolate, nothing to shout about here.

Overall, we were pretty unimpressed by our experience here.

On a separate occasion with our other reviewer:
Wagyu Cheese Burger: So-so, the bun was soft but the patty was slightly dry and under seasoned.
Spring Chicken: Portion is huge for one person
Ribs: pretty decent.

Tip: There's a Happy Hour promotion till 8 p.m. for most drinks. Beers on tap prices varies every hour, but remains affordable.

Dean and DeLuca

181 Orchard Rd, 15 Orchard Central, 01-09/10, 238896

Ambience:
The OC is generally a quieter mall as compared to 313 and ION. This is a good place to take a breather from the crowd and recharge with some coffee and grub.

Comments on Food:
The All American Breakfast was way more delicious than the one we had at Marmalade Pantry. Everything was just more flavourful and done better in my opinion. Satisfying!

Smoked Salmon Benedict. Mushrooms hiding under the salmon and eggs.
Overall we had a pleasant experience here. A nice place with pretty decent cafe food, but nothing spectacular or unique, pretty much just another cafe? We'll be back to try their coffee and the tea time cake promotion next time.

Tip: No free water served, only bottled water available.

Toby's Estate

8 Rodyk St, Singapore 238216

Ambience:
It was pretty crowded for a weekday brunch. Nevertheless, the buzz wasn't drowning our conversation.

Comments on Food:
We ordered the Brekkie of Champions and Surf and Turf, along with a cup of Flat White. Surprisingly there wasn't much waiting time before we got our food.

Portion was generous but lacked wow factor. Other than the sour tomatoes and dry brioche, Brekkie of Champions was actually quite an hearty meal to fuel your day. Surf and Turf was kind of "meh" - the shredded beef was practically there only to provide protein on the plate. Thankfully, the coffee was a saving grace, smooth with a mellow aftertaste.

Twenty Grammes Cafe
753 North Bridge Rd, Singapore 198721 (Jalan Besar MRT)

Ambience:
Chill vibes with a neon light feature wall for Instagram worthy photos. Crowd was relatively light for a Friday night.

Comments on Food:
We had the houjicha soft serve on cut waffles. Not much of a houjicha taste, but good for people who do not have a sweet tooth. Waffles was rather soft but we would prefer a crispier texture.

Chocolate Lava Cake was moist and the lava flows. One plus point was that the chocolate was not too jelak or cloying. Safe choice for dessert!

Tip:
Not recommended for huge groups as the place is pretty small. Twenty Grammes is also located near lots of other Entertainer restaurants, so it's a good option (besides Brother Bird) for after dinner desserts.
