Hey guys!
Just checking in with a short post because we really enojyed the flavours from this woodfired restaurant, called Burn at Club Street.
Ordered two mains, the Lamb Cutlets and the Blackened Barramundi.
Blackened barramundi! Very crispy. The ingredients chosen really let the freshness of the fish shine. Sometimes to get to the good stuff you must really strip things down. Minimising the amount of ingredients can really lead to a more powerful taste and experience.
The fish is served atop a minty sauce and quinoa. I skipped the beets because I'm not a fan of them.
The Lamb Cutlets ($39) were grrrrrreat! Flavour was very clean cut and delicious! We loved the simplicity and richness of it. Raved about it all night. However, for two greedy people with big appetites, these two portions were on the smaller side.
Actually, we ordered the same two dishes from another woodfired restaurant called Sideways at Jalan Besar.
In comparison, the Sideways dishes were more flavourful, pack a punch, but seem more chaotic. Here, the flavour of the dishes are more straight-forward and you can really taste the freshness and rich flavour that the chef is trying to express. Simple but delightful. I dig it!
Thanks to Burpple Beyond (1-for-1) our bill was $44.85 after GST. If not, the bill for these portions would be a little too hard to swallow for us X_X
The restaurant was full house on Friday night and we saw them turning away diners. The staff were all very prompt and observant. An angmoh staff took our orders and he was very friendly and humorous! We were very lucky because he seated us at a 'reserved' table on the condition that we finish in an hour. That's not a problem for us - we are chopchop people and within 1 minute of sitting down, our orders were sent to the kitchen. Our food was served after maybe 5-10 minutes. LOL. Efficiency at it's best.
Recommended for peeps who enjoy great flavour, do not mind smaller portions, and want a nice night out with drinks!
