Tea Time: Carmien Rooibos

Hey guys!

How have you been? I'm quite amused that this Tea Time section is still alive and kicking. I would have thought I would run out of teas to feature. But nope! Thanks to friends and family I always have something new and fun to try.

I'm no tea connoisseur, but blogging about drinking new teas is really fun for me!

Some weeks back I got to try this tea, the Carmien Rooibos from South Africa.

Firstly, what on earth is Rooibos? It means 'red bush', and rooibos is a type of herbal tea. You can prepare it hot or cold.

Rooibos is caffeine free, as compared to black and green tea. So you may consider it if you're trying to go caffeine free.

What did it taste like?

To someone who is used to drinking green tea or black tea, the rooibos can come across a bit shocking to the palate. It is ashy and smoky to me. Also a little earthy and somewhat overpowering in herb smell. Some people find it lovely, while others are disgusted by it.

I would say it is quite an acquired taste though!

Verdict: Well, I have to say this isn't my cup of tea at all!

Till next time,
Skye
