Book Reccs

Hi lovelies!

I've been reading as usual, and these are some of the better books I've come across so far! Maybe you will find something that interests you in this list.

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
Second book: Shadow of Night
Third book: The Book of Life

I got to read this series via the NLB ebook app! This book series starts off being rather Twilight-ish which just really tickles me. The second book bored me to tears while the action finally resumes in the third book, which is the creepiest and most evil. If you like magic, witches, demons and vampires, and don't mind some Twilight-ish scenes, this may be the book for you.

The book has also been made into a TV series, but I don't care for it because the actors and actresses do not really fit my image of what they should be.

The next two books are heavy hitters. I'm sure you've already seen these around!

Becoming by Michelle Obama

I really, really enjoyed this! We get to learn so much about the FLOTUS and what she was like when she was growing up. She was such a good kid and a super accomplished person. The funniest thing has got to be how she met Barack. This is a must read!

I loved how Michelle got her bro to assess Barack by inviting her to a basketball game. You can't hide your true self when playing sports. I also LOVED the proposal. It's so funny.

This picture of a sloping hallway in the White House is also major Princess Diaries VIBES!

One good thing about reading ebooks on the phone is getting to take screen shots.

Ok moving on.

Educated by Tara Westover

This is a real life memoir. Tara grew up in a family that didn't believe in many modern things - government, modern medicine etc. This is the story of the life she led and how she left and discovered how much more of the world she had not seen. Very mind-blowing and eye-opening.

The Gods of Tango by Carolina de Robertis
This is a brilliant and exciting tale of a girl who travels abroad and ekes out a new living and adopts a new identity for herself. I highly recommend it!

The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman
This one is an older book, and has been made into a movie. The book really came alive for me as I visited Poland just last year. Sometimes it really takes a lot of courage to be brave and kind.

The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
This one has been made into a movie! I saw the trailer before I read the ebook. Quite the cute story.

False Hearts by Laura Lam, #2, Shattered Minds
Disrupted by Dan Lyons
I've reviewed these thrilling books, set in a futuristic city, in this post.

and lastly, I read this one a long time ago about decluttering and minimalist life. Lol.

goodbye, things by Fumio Sasaki

I really like how the book started off with some shockingly sparse homes and rooms. It inspired me to clean up my room again.

Till next time!
Happy reading :)
Skye
