2Six Cafe

Hey loves!

The food monsters are back at it. This time we went for a Burpple Beyond set meal at the 2Six Cafe, hidden in Katong Square, which sadly sees way less foot traffic than the other surrounding malls, Parkway Parade and Katong I12.

The set meal consists of a Main dish, a drink, and a Mille Crepe cake!

My choice: The Japanese Hamburg Steak and Rice.
I love hamburger steaks so I found it hard to resist this. Went with the Genmaicha tea for my drink. There were plenty of tea options on the menu though! Love that! They also provide you with a lil cute hour glass so you can stop steeping your tea after say a minute. Cute and thoughtful.

Thick juicy succulent hamburg steak.  Rice and side vegetables were average, and I felt that the plating can be improved. The appearance of this dish does the hamburg no justice!!!

Bf went for the Gyudon. The egg was a little messed up but the beef pieces were flavourful and tender. Good searing ~ We also had this milky Lychee Fiesta Freeze which turned out not to be as enjoyable (to us) as it sounds. Also it came in a plastic cup and straw (pikachu ono face).

Enter the cakes for dessert!!!

Ordered the Earl Grey and Belgian Chocolate Mille Crepes. A pity that the mango one seemed OOS.

Taste wise both cakes were pleasant and delivers on promised flavour. The Earl Grey is not too flowery in flavour, just the way I like it. The Belgian Chocolate is good for peeps who enjoy dark chocolate! Not too sweet, which is how we enjoy cakes nowadays. #old

Layer wise though, I just had to compare them to Lady M (if not, where else?) I think the layers here seem less than Lady M, and seem thicker, or more.. gelatine like rather than egg crepe like. This results in the 2Six cake to come across as more...simple and less refined (in Chinese, 没有做的那么细). Just my humble opinion of course.

However, for a labour intensive cake like this to be included in this Burrple set promo, is nonetheless still considered a steal!

We enjoyed ourselves in this quiet cafe with comfy scandi looking furniture. I loved the wide selection of teas, the main options seem quite solid, and the mille crepe cakes, while not living up to high expectations, were still a pleasant way to end the meal. With our 1-for-1 Burpple app, the bill was $32 for two, so $16 each. Not a bad deal for a 3 item set meal.

Gonna give it a nice 7/10!

Love,
Skye
